Air traffic control towers at most airports in West Virginia would close in April under a sequestration plan announced by the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday.

The FAA said it would close control towers at Tri-State Airport near Huntington, North Central West Virginia Airport at Bridgeport, Wheeling Ohio County Airport at Wheeling, Greenbrier Valley Airport at Lewisburg and Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport at Parkersburg.

The FAA also said it would eliminate the overnight shift at Charleston's Yeager Airport and at Tri-State.

"We will begin furloughs and start facility shut-downs in April," the FAA announcement said.

Complete and total B.S. Why anyone listens to anything coming out of D.C. any more is beyond me.

it's the typical fear tactics used by democrats. there are no real spending cuts, it's just a reduction in the rate of spending increases.

Of course, every thing WV will be hit as hard as possible. Just look at how WV voted and expect to bend over!

Where is RCB when you need him?

WV voting had nothing to do with this. Had they voted for Obama the situation would be the same. The WV federal politicians cannot get the parties to compromise.

Byrd was a big asset to this state. He did do a lot, and his willingness to work with everyone to better WV and the US will be missed.

Yes, he was in the KKK. He admitted he made a mistake and regretted it. We all make mistakes and poor decisions owning up to them is strong, and people who can do so often make great leaders.

You republicans can learn a lot from him, many hold similar or even more ignorant views than he once did, but refuse to admit their mistakes. It is why a lot of people are having fun with the sad state of your party right now.

On another note are you even from WV? Didnt you come here to just argue federal politics? Do you actually know anything about WV? Do you even lift?

Actually Bballjunkie introduced him, but what he said was actually relevant to the topic. I am taking it that no you are not from WV, you have never been to WV, and you know nothing about WV.

I am reporting you. I urge all posters to report SwampFox35 when he hijacks a thread with non-WV federal political post.

Plenty of money available (our grandchildren can pay for it after all) for building military outposts in Africa and foreign aid for Isreal and Egypt, but we will close our own airports and can't fix our own roads. It has nothing to do with anybody's political party. We seem to have just decided to elect bubble headed space cadets to run our country. The American people aren't counting any longer. Every thing is special interest group dominated, and the people making the decisions live in their gated communities and send their children to special private schools.
