We got our electric bill the other day. Was a ACTUAL Reading! Was $500!!! So I gave them a call they had my son go read them the meter. Today we got a Corrected bill for $300!! SO IF you get an inflated bill it might pay to call & read them the meter!

With so much unemplyment you think they could hire folks that actually do their job correctly...ugh

Anyway wanted to give folks a heads up!

Have had this happen (Potomac Edison/First Energy). Got an estimated read from the previous year and I did not live at the residence the previous year. It was 3 times what I used. My advice, read your meter each month and report it on the day stated on the previous month's bill.

Thanks for the heads-up. My bill doubled from last month, I thought it was because the heat pump had been running overtime but I will compare it to the meter reading.

Either way, I've dropped the thermostat down to 60 degrees and the wood stove is rocking! Fortunately we have a source for free firewood.

The electric company "estimated" many bills because of the storm this summer. They didn't have the employee's available to actually read the meters. You would think by now that they would be better at estimating bills but unfortunately they are not.

I see where they are starting to install meters in some area's that don't require an actual employee walk up and read. This should help stop many of the screwed up bills at some point in the future.

I just read the fine print on my latest bill. Going forward, FirstEnergy is going to consider 2 estimated months then 1 actual reading to be the norm.

First Energy/Allegheny/Potomac Edison (these people change their name like change underwear) are at it again. This month I read my meter when I was supposed to as per my bill (the 14th of the month). Did not receive a bill so I called the customer service line. They told me that this was because I was not scheduled for an estimate until the 27th of the month!!! Then why, I asked, have me read the meter on the 14th when you are going to estimate the bill on the 27th? The rep could not give me an answer. I got the address and phone number in Charleston for the main office so that I could write a nice nasty complaint letter. When are these people going to get their acts together. Anybody else having this problem?

Nope. My bill went up (on the budget plan) $14 this month even thou my usage is lower than last month, lower than this month last year, and my annual usage is dropping.

For some strange reason... my garage apt... is running me about 215 a month. I've never heard of electric bills this high for such a small place. True, we heat with electric...But considering I have the thermostat set at 55... So I'm not only confused, I'm freezin my jolly ranchers off...

My parents 3500 sq foot home costs about 150 and they keep it toasty at 68... Something is wrong here.
