Hi!

Could someone pls suggest some towns or small cities that are good for young families? I'm dying to leave NJ and I'm looking into VA or West VA. NJ has become a place I can't wait to leave behind. It's insanely expensive and I'm just ready to get up and go.

I'm raising a toddler on my own so, affordable towns would be much appreciated. In nice, quiet towns. I'm definitely used to the fast paced lifestyle but, I currently live in a very quiet small town which I absolutely love. Everyone is nice and the local bars and stores are filled with amazing people. Everyone knows everyone around here and I'd love to move to another town similar to this one.
I'm not looking to move to the country side. More rural or downtown.

We're very quiet. I mind my business and stay to myself but, I'm insanely friendly and love meeting new people. I'm just ready for a big change.

Thanks in advance!

You might want to ask this to be moved to the general WV section, that was you get a larger and more diverse group of opinions.

Is job availability an important consideration? If so, what type of job?

Would you be able to tell me how to do that? This is my first time using this but yea it's pretty important. I do Data Entry. I'm in the process of getting into the army reserves but that's kind of on hold because I have a few things to get situated before I go to basic training. It probably won't happen until I get settled.

A mod should be able to move it.

Charles Town / Harpers Ferry / Shepherdstown WV are nice areas, smallish towns, good for families.
Lots of info on this site about them if you look around.

What NJ town are you describing and living in? It sounds very nice.

Anywhere far from a natural gas well. I'd suggest Pocahontas County.

Very true, and sub culturally not very different than New Jersey (or at least the more rural areas of New Jersey). Grafton and Fairmont would also be nice alternatives ... relatively low cost and close enough to Morgantown to provide access to a labor market that would support somebody looking for data entry work. Tons of younger people in the area too.

I see many NJ plates (the hue they chose for those makes them easy to spot) on I-68 with WVU stickers in the window. Seems to be a bit of a connection at least.
