Katie1: I think you are on to something here...perhaps you can talk to her privately...this could have been a subconcious cry for help...wondering...

Why is it just molesters that have to register? Wouldn't you like to know if a convicted murderer is living next door to you too?

Well, since idiot started a thread I thought I would give the web address if anyone wanted to check. I checked at our old address and was shocked by how many were in the area. I checked after we wrote a contract on our current home and there where none.

National Sex Offender Registry

For the record, I pulled up Harpers Ferry and it wasn't that bad.

It is a good site, but you have to keep in mind when they talk about kids you have to look at the offender because a lot of time it is someone right over the 18 limit so the victim might be someone under 16 but a girlfriend/boyfriend thing. You have to read the conviction. The other area he was talking about Bolivar has 2. From where I moved from had like 43 and most of them were old farts.

good question...and I'll bite...perhaps its the addictive qualities of molestation...not so much found in the venue of murder...serial killers being an exception.
I've alway felt that Wv protected molesters..in Oregon they kept a large orange sign in the front window of the house declaring a molester living there...thought that was good...here, a person must look them up on the registry and some of the names are people in my neighborhood...shook my head the first time I saw it...sad

Years ago we had a personal event in our family. A dear one was attacked and injured severally. The physcial wounds mostly healed in time..the damage was done to the personality...to understand this cruelty, I studied about 200 of the best and worst books on the subject.
Some of it is driven by being a family tradition...some by the exercise of power...some by the failure to identify with ones own sexuality...
at any rate, its a sad phenomonen of our time and the ages...Freud said the molestation rate of Europe was 85%...He discounted that evidence and no real work was done for another 50 years...

That is a shame David. But the sad fact is, is that molesting and murders have been happening from many years back but because of cable news and such they are reporting it more than ever and it makes it seem like it is getting worse. The difference being.....back then it was never talked about.

Most Child molester in this area are not posted to protect the child...most in the local paper have turned out to be relitives of the victim....sick world we live in.
