You were lucky this did not happen in Florida. I have a friend whom I worked with for 8 yrs. so knew him fairly well and he made a terrible mistake one night by getting tempted by a 12 yr old that he thought was 15 but still not good enough of excuse.

He fondled her becase of her heavy flirting and he says she wanted him to have sex with her and if he said no she would tell her mother(his ex wife) so he did what he did but did not have sex and she told.

Now he is in federal prison in Florida for LIFE with no Parole.

He should be. First of all, even if she was 15, that is not old enough. Being 12 is just reprehesible. I wonder about the "heavy flirting." Sexual predators always blame the victims. And most 12 year olds don't know how to "flirt." And if they do, then there is something seriously wrong at home.

Apples and oranges. Logical fallacy.

As for what Jesus would want you to do, it might be to protect your children from sexual predators. The OP was convicted of a felony charge and I don't think we have the whole story.

Bush had a lot of help in causing trouble for our country, including the elitist who is in office now. They all conspired to either give our jobs away to foreign countries out of greed for the fiscal conservative elitists, or out of a desire to "improve relations" with them for the wacko liberals, and they are letting hundreds of thousands of illegals in the door to take the jobs that remain for the same reasons. We will never really turn things around until we elect a populist government and put the elitists, who can never relate to the rest of us, on the sidelines.

As to "this guy", he made his own bed and he knows that (who in their right mind would send pornography on the internet to a minor), but he does deserve the opportunity to support himself. He needs to contact Employment Security for assistance, or retraining help. There is always help out there for unemployed people.

Yes, I agree it was wrong and stupid on my part. And I definately do not condone what I did. What started off as casual chatting turned into something more, that should have never happened. I was in a bad marriage, and the girl knew it, being best friends with her and I. I am not using that as an excuse either. I knew she was a minor, and never once did I or her actually discuss having physical sex. Didn't think nothing about it being im's and chat. It was a way for both of us to let loose. I have checked into the possibility of requesting a pardon for this, but was told that I had to wait at least 7 years. Now whether this is true or not, I have no idea, as I have not been able to find any legal info on this matter. I just wish that all states would adopt the same registering. Non-physical being an offender, physical being a sex-offender, and multiple times being a sexual-predator.

Amen Sister! Jesus wants us to protect all the little children...not abuse them! Any adult who knowingly engages in inappropriate behavior with an underage person, is GUILTY! I do give some leadway to the 19 year old with the 16 year old girlfriend.....but there is NO excuse for a step father to mess with a 12 year old. Ummmm...how could he not know the age of his ex wife's daughter? No offense to all who believe him...but offender always have "a great excuse"

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but there are various ways a politician can harm their country. Supporting illicit immigration under the mask of "reform" that amounts to amnesty is one of them, especially when so many of our citizens are out of work. It is beyond stupid. Inviting every immigrant to bring in their sick grandmother, their cousin, all their brothers and sisters and associated children to become a burden on our already overtaxed medical and education system under the guise of "family reunification" is another.

I think this is one of the evils (if you wish to call it that) of the "internet generation". The generation of kids who grew up using the Internet from early childhood. They are part of the group of people who develop almost split-personalities... the "real" personality you see when you're face-to-face with them, and, the "online personality" where they become someone else, say things they'd NEVER say to someone's face, and "let loose".

This is a good lesson to learn, and a very good one to keep pounding into the younger generation - Don't say anything to anyone online that you're not willing to say to their face. Argumentative, debates, sexual, whatever - if you don't have the kahunas to say it to them live, don't say it. Many legal aged men would not be blatantly sexual with an underage girl face-to-face in conversation. So, don't do it online, on a cell, or via texting or what is now called "sexting". It WILL come back to haunt you later.

I will be the first to say that I do agree that there should be standardized Federal classifications for offenders in place, that each State should follow to the letter. An 18 year old who has sex with today's 15 or 16 year old while wrong, should not be clumped together into an online registry for life, with adult men who molest young children, or violent rapists.

My nephew isn't even of age to drive yet. He's a good looking kid actively involved in sports at his school. He has brought home notes that 13-15 year old girls slip into his locker that have stuff in them that would completely FREAK you out as a parent if you had a clue your daughter could even think of this stuff, much less approach a boy with it on paper. So, while yeah, boys can be sex freaks in their teens, believe you me, teen girls don't always walk around with halos on their heads these days, either. 18 and 19 year old guys aren't even out of that "horned up teen boy" stage yet, and these girls are going after them in sometimes scary ways. And yes, there's a share of these boys who take advantage of younger girls, too.

The point is, when you're talking about teen sex to teen sex, even if one teen is barely hitting legal and the other isn't - it's not a clear cut case of someone being a "predator". There really should be different levels on the registry data bases, and REAL predators, molesters, and rapists should be on it for life. Teens who make dumb decisions perhaps not so. One for the Feds to hopefully work out one day. Just my personal opinion.

There is generally a 3 year window where if one of the participants is a minor and the other up to three years older, sex is not an offense. That might not apply in all jurisdictions. Generally an 18 year old with a 16 year old would be okay, or a 20 year old with a 17 year old, for example.

There are also different types of sexual offenses. Some of them fall into the compulsive category, and people who commit crimes of that nature are always a threat to re-offend. Others just involve poor judgement. It sounds like this one falls into the VERY poor judgement category, especially since it involves an adult and a minor.

By the way, there are a growing number of female offenders with sex crimes. The vast majority of them involve adult females and minor males, often mothers and their sons, believe it or not. Those folks have to register too, when they get out of jail.
