Indian Point should not impact lower Westchester as the wind never blow this way. It blows to north. So I guess Putnam, Rockland and Dutches have higher risk than NYC or lower Westchester county.
Absolutely not so. Wind blows N and NW (i.e., out of the NW towards the SE) on a very regular basis.
The wind is North West today--blowing to the south east. So if Indian Point melted down today the radiation would be heading to southern Westchester and CT.
In Japan, the US is telling citizens to evacuate a 50 mile radius of the nuclear plant. A 50 mile radius of Indian Point would include all of Westchester, not to mention NYC, parts of LI, Bergen county, Putnam, Orange, and Rockland.
If an earthquake ever hit the Kensico Dam, or if Indian Point ever melted down, this board would be even quieter than it already is.
