I know there are a few people on this board who have moved from NYC to Westchester. Can you recommend a moving company? We want to get a "real" moving company - not just 2 guys and a truck. I am looking into Flat Rate, Oz and Moishe's - any others I should look into?
It will be a fairly easy move - we are moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to Mamaroneck.
We moved twice and used Liberty Moving. We moved an entire house and I felt the price was good and the men did a good job packing. We had no damage. They are located in Long Island
Strand Freight Systems is an international moving company that also does local moves. These tend to be better because packing for overseas moves requires more professional service. They do offer all kinds of services and they did my local move as well. Highly recommended. PM me and I'll give you more specific info.
I used DUMBO Moving and Storage last year going from a 2 BR in Manhattan to upper Westchester. They quoted me a very competitive fixed price and stuck with it without any haggling, and did a nice job.
I always recommend All Star Moving and Storage. We moved from a 2 bedroom in Manhattan down to NC and they were FABULOUS. Packed everything up, didn't break a thing, we had our own truck and it was in NC the next day to unpack! They also came in under the quoted price. Definitely check them out.
We just moved out of Westchester, NY and used United Van Lines. Unfortunately these big companies subcontract and you don't know who will actually move your property. I went to the United Website and asked for a quote - a company called Bolliger Mobility (they are part of United and Mayflower) packed us without any incident but my property was 16 days late arriving in Texas !!
