hi all, we moved to Rye Neck area about 1 year ago and realized a few months back that the cut-off date is Dec 1st (bad homework), instead of Dec 31st for most of WC towns..
Our daughter will be doing pre-K in MCNS coming Sept.
Since it doesn't seem possible to make an exception, we are wondering what we should send our daughter for the extra year. We can send her to Liberty Montessori, or apply for Rye Country Day, or just do some enrichment programs.

I have no idea about american education system, so any suggestion would be more than welcome.

Default If you put her in private Kindergarten

in Sept, I believe you can send her to 1st grade next year. Our neighbor did this for her Dec 14th baby. It has worked out very well for them, her daughter would have been bored to tears had she had another year of pre-school. Check with your town.

I see. I wasn't very sure that this approach would work and I will double check with my town. Thanks for the info.

Hi, I know someone whose daughter was one day after 12/1 cutoff, in Rye Neck. They put her in Catholic school and she went to 1st the following year with no issue from the school district.

If you can do Catholic school it saves a ton of money as opposed to private like RCD. Unless you are Jewish, they take anyone! If you're interested check into Sts. John and Paul in Larchmont or Resurrection in Rye since they aren't too far from your area.

Good luck!

OMG, I never heard that. Is it true? Though I can't easily imagine such a scenario it's quite incredible.

Yes interesting - so they would have turned away Jesus then.

In this day and age they will accept any family who understands there are certain things that must be adherred too (attending mass as a class) but they do not have to take communion. Actually one family has a parent who is Jewish and the other is the Catholic one.

My friend (Catholic) married a Jew, in church and a rabbi was in attendance. Our parish priest's mother was Jewish. So, maybe Jesus could have been accepted.

God bless the USA!
