Verizon Fios sued Cablevision so they can get MSG HD. Cablevision offers News 12/Traffic & Weather channles tailored to Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk, parts of NJ it serves. At the same time, Cablevision offers News 12 to small pocket areas where Time Warner or Comcast run service. Cablevision offered MSG HD to Time Warner and Comcast whom by the way offers NY 1 to the few minor areas in the city Cablevision serves.
Verizon sued to get MSG HD because Cablevision offered that service to the other cable companies. Why doesn't Verizon try again and sue to get News 12 for all the markets they serve?
I also like the traffic they do on News 12. However, for the love of all that is holy..would they please upgrade the presentation a little? I know its low budget but the background during news 12 is awful.
News 12 repeats stories over-and-over, it's quite a boring news channel (not to mention they have some hilarious looking on-air personalities). In regards to traffic and weather I'd rather find that information online from my phone. That's usually when I need it, anyway; not when I'm sitting at home in front of the TV.

During Hurricane Sandy News 12 and the 24/7 Metro and Traffic weather gave detailed information. That's assuming your cable tv was working. I get the information on the phone, but it isn't the same.
They're also pretty good during snowstorms for getting truly "local" coverage and I find their website useful for school closings/delays.
