Westchester Avenue east of Ridge Street is one of the two major thoroughfares of Port Chester, the other being Main Street / Route 1. Downtown Port Chester is centered around the intersection of the two streets and has seen a lot of development in the past decade, particularly with the construction of a shopping center right at the intersection. Lots of good restaurants along that stretch of Route 1.
My impression of the residential area around Westchester Ave. is that it's a solid working / lower-middle class neighborhood, mostly recent Latin American immigrants with a few Italian old-timers.
