Hello, just wondering if any of you have a reviews or feedback you can give me in regards to Van Cortlandtville elementary school in Mohegan Lake? I am buying a house in Cortlandt Manor and that seems to be the zoned school in the Lakeland Central School District, I have a soon to be kindergartener and am wondering how the school is, thanks in advance for any and all replies!!!

Hi, my husband and I were considering buying a house in that district so I went and toured the school. It seemed nice enough but pretty big. Van Cortlandtville has all of the special ed classes for the district which is most likely the reason they get lower test scores than the other elementary school in the Lakeland district. The school seemed pleasant and had a nice garden that the kids work on but I didn't like hearing that they don't have field trips. I know someone who sent two daughters to the school and she said she really liked the school. I've heard that they have a pretty active PTA. Good luck!

Hi,

I just saw this and thought you might be interested:

It sounds like parents are definitely pretty involved in that district

Weve been living in Cortlandt Manor for 10 years and I have nothing to complain about. My daughter has been in Van Cortlandtville for three years now and has had a great experience. Over the years, the school has provided her with a selection of great teachers and after school programs (ex: "Bright Knights") which she has gained greatly from. The school rating overall is high in Westchester.
