We are planning to move from queens to either westchester or long island. we have family in westchester, but my husband is disabled. The south shore of long island is appealing because the terraine is so level and it would be possible for my husband to take a short walk around the neighborhood. On the other hand, it would be nice to live closer to family.
I'm wondering if there are any towns or parts of towns in Westchester that would be considered to have very level terraine.
Stay away from Yonkers. It is one of the hilliest areas of the state. Geographically (not scenically mind you) Yonkers is similar to San Francisco in that there are hills everywhere.
have family now, so maybe we can suggest an area close to them, also what is your price range. You will probably also be looking for a ranch style house....are their any other criteria you might require in a house....
Pelham Manor. As close to Long Island as you can get, with most of the topography as flat as a pancake. If you're not concerned about schools, Mount Vernon also has gorgeous neighborhoods that are not hilly.
Teresa, what about the school system......do you need a good school system
Yes we do want a good school system. I know Chappaqua, Scarsdale, Edgemont and Bronxville are "tops." We have three boys. The oldest is in 4th grade. Ideally, I would like them to be in a school system where the kids perform well, but is not crazily competitive and that emphasizes a more rounded approach towards community service and sports.
