All of my kids' friends are church-goers, and we're looking for some other families who are "good without god," so to speak.
We are in Mt Pleasant/Pleasantville area.
I've lived here in Westchester now for 6 years and I don't actually know anyone who attends any kind of religious service... We're all pretty much "good without god" as you put it. I guess it depends on where you are, and how you meet people.
rus, streetsmart; yes I'm serious. We meet people mainly through school events/functions since our kids are in preschool and kindergarten. Havent met anyone yet who identifies as an atheist (or other variation of non-believer), that's why I asked.

I am with most of the responders. I don't know any overly religious people. My family is "good without god" "good with god" "good with gods and goddesses" and generally good with whatever floats your boat. I have never had someone in my neighborhood ask me about faith, so I find your situation unusual. I am sure there are hundreds of like families in your area. Good luck.

What is going on here in the New York forums??? A few weeks ago there was an allegedly "evangelical Christian" family looking for an "evangelical Christian community" on LI. Just a couple of days ago there was a supposed "Irish Catholic" family looking for an "active Catholic Community" in Westchester, too, I think. Now, we've got a supposed "atheist" family looking for some of his/her own persuasion.
Color me suspicious and becoming more so all the time of these posters looking for their religious/philosophical brethren. I smell troll.

Sorry - not a troll.
I don't follow the boards so I didnt know about any of the previous posters. I figured I'd put the feelers out to see if there were any other self-proclaimed atheist families around here since I obviously haven't met any in my everyday travels. Not sure why its such a suspicious topic though - is is out of the ordinary for people to seek out like-minded folk?

People generally don't self-proclaim about anything that's not particularly important to them. That's gonna be the way with most atheists - its no big deal. Not something to shout about.
Just like you'd find it hard to identify from the outside people who think Northern Ireland should be rejoined to the Republic of Ireland - no-one outside an Irish pub is likely to be talking out loud about it. You'd never know.
