I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a summer camp or day care for a 2.5 ya in lower westchester (Pelham, Tuckahoe, Eastchester area). We are on a wait list for the day care we'd like to attend but they won't have any open spots until September, just looking for a good affordable place to send him until then.

Asbury Nursery School in Tuckahoe/Crestwood offers a summer program for 2's. I believe its only for mornings though and doesn't cover the entire summer.

Thornton-Donovan has a WONDERFUL full day program that covers most of July & August. They bus from all over Westchester as well. I've sent my children there for many years. They may start with 3 year olds though (or very close to it).

When my children were smaller, I would also make use of the professional sitter services in Westchester. I could arrange to get full day sitters in my home for weeks at a time (and they tended to be the same person, so it was like hiring a part time nanny for the summer). I've used The Service for many years (listed online as The Service employment agency). Wonderful, reliable and always adult, experienced moms/teachers or long time child care workers. I also have used Family Helpers, though they operate with more long term contracts.
