Not sure if this is the right place for this but I'll give it a try...

I'm moving to Danbury, CT in a few weeks but I've been told that it's better to drive over to either the Brewster, NY or Southeast Stations and take Metro North from there rather than to go to Danbury Station. I tried to get a parking permit for either of those stations but was told they are unavailable and put me on a waiting list. Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to get a metered space at either station? How long do people usually stay on the waiting list? Is there an alternative parking spot I'm not aware of?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

That is one long commute. Is there any chance you could move closer to NYC somewhere in Weetchester?

There are other options for parking in Brewster. I assume you are on the LAZ waiting list as I know that one can be long. Did you try getting a permit through the Village of Brewster? They have multiple lots and while you do have to walk a bit further than the LAZ spaces, it seems like spaces are always available. Look here: http://www.brewstervillage-ny.gov/im...April_2016.pdf

First Baptist Church which is across from the station was offering parking for $30 a month but I am not sure if they are still doing that, or of availability if they are.

I know there is also a shuttle from Danbury- the HART- which picks up from lots near the CT/NY border, but I don't know how appealing that is as it will probably add to your commute. But I thought I'd put it out there. I used to ride the train from Brewster and became acquainted with a few people who lived in CT and left from Brewster. Lots of people do it.
