What will the issue be when a house is sold in New Rochelle?

Nope. City records don't keep track of light fixtures. No one knows whats old vs new.

If you read the code of most towns, they are broad enough to require permits for any electrical or plumbing work. But as if I am really going to get a permit if I change a toilet valve or light switch.

Thanks for your replies.

To clarify though, a friend who's an electrician put in sconces where none existed previously. I had no idea that this would require a permit, but someone told me now that it did.

When I sell the house, will the city make me take it out?

Thanks

Call the New Rochelle building inspector and ask. Give him your address and the amount of the improvements.

Thanks for the tip. I don't plan on selling the house for a few years, so closer to the time, that's a good idea. I wasn't sure that I needed a permit until someone told me recently that I did.

I am in the restoration business. Call your town inspector. It gets complicated with old wiring vs new. Best to be safe & legal.
