Rental suggestions for young couple (Putnam: rentals, to buy, law school)

My fiancé and I are from Dutchess County, and currently live in PA while I finish law school. I have been hired in the Bronx beginning September 2019. We know having a large dog in the city is near impossible, and we have a Malamute (who still is not full grown but is likely to weigh about 85 pounds once he is finished). I am fine with a long-ish commute until we can save up enough money to buy a home.

Does anyone have any suggestions on rentals in Westchester or Southern Putnam for around $1800 or less, and would allow us to keep our beloved pup?

$1800 rental AND big dog friendly rental? That is a real needle in a haystack. You are probably going to have better luck rental from a two-family home.
