What would the going rate be for a kitchen reno befitting say a 1mm+ house in lower westchester? I thought the going rate for a nice kitchen is 50-100k? 50k being custom cabs, quartz, SS appliances...upwards of 100k for marble counters and backsplash and Viking level appliances.
WHAT? Unless you're talking about a 3000 sq ft house, 150K?
You’re saying a guy reno kitchen befitting to a 1mm+, 3000 SF house is 150k? Or are you saying 150k by adding my 50k and 100k figures, and think that’s way off.
To be clear - I was throwing out 50k for a mid/high end kitchen and 100k for a luxury kitchen. Not 150k. This is with a 3000 SF house in mind. Say 15x15 or slightly larger kitchen size for that size house. Just hypotheticals
It really does matter how high end you mean by "luxury." If you're just talking Sub-Zero/Viking/Miele class appliances and custom cabinets, I think you're pretty firmly in the $50K-$75K range. You can totally go crazy on this stuff if you go super high-end, so lots of ways to take it up to $150K. A manufacturer called "True" makes highly-sought after refrigerators that cost upwards of $18K.

I think he quoted the wrong reply. Just after you Dabomb said upward of $150k in his opinion.
I love Ikea kitchens. We're currently pricing one for our own home. We have approx 2,600 sq. ft. home, and a great looking kitchen will cost $10k for parts (cabinets, countertops, and odds and ends) and approx. $5k for installation. We're keeping the same appliances.
We may do flooring and a little reconfiguration of walls so the price could ultimately go up a bit, but $15k all-in without appliances, probably $20k with appliances, for a decent sized kitchen with a fairly large island. A smaller kitchen and/or one without an island could be quite a bit less.
The associate at Ikea said that a good rule of thumb is that the installation costs about 50% whatever the Ikea configuration shows as the total cost of the kitchen, so if you use the tool and end up with $6k in parts, figure $9k all in.
