I am interested in possibly moving to North Carolina in about a year, maybe two years. It is myself, my three year old daughter, my 16 year old son, and our Sat Guru. We are artistic/dance/music oriented people who enjoy the outdoors as well as some city activities. Our focus is work for me, I am working on starting a private school for pre-k through 12 grade and would love to do this in North Carolina. I am considering the Ashville area, Hendersonville, and so forth. Both my daughter and I are really big into music and dance as well. Rent has to be no higher than $700 a month for a three bedroom though and we do not wish to commute too much for work or school. Buses are great and less traffic is always nice. Any thoughts would be great.
As someone who is moving to Asheville, I can tell you that finding a 3 bdrm to rent for $700/less would be very difficult. At least someplace in a relatively safe neighborhood. In 2 years, the prices could go up or down, but I wouldn't bet on the latter. From the way in which you wrote your post, it seems surprising to me that you wish to start a school. And I can't imagine how risky & expensive that could be!! You must be a real go-getter. Good luck to you & your family!!
I know this isn't constructive or helpful at all, and not really that relevant to your post, but I'm curious as to what a "Sat Guru" is. Google only yielded results about Hindu priests or something. But... I'm not sure I understand.
Sorry, I didn't mean to take this thread off-track. I was just really curious about that.
I'm curious how the OP would know her budget for rent when the income is such an unknown. I would think there is a lot of research ahead before contemplating any move.
Also curious about the Sat Guru thing. I was figuring a dog, but I don't know.
[EDIT]Hmmm ... I just saw the date on the OP, and I think it's a safe bet that this person will not be back to tell us about the Sat Guru thing. [/EDIT]
