Can anyone offer some advice on moving to North Carolina (by the mountains) like which small towns are great, and which are... not so great. Also, where is the best place to apply for teaching jobs Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Your odds aren't great, unless you teach math or science for middle or high school, but give it a shot anyway - you never know!
Look at Brevard in Transylvania County - great little place with a small college
Yes, please do not let anyone discourage you. Until you, yourself check in to the job situation you don't really know what jobs are like for someone with your qualifications and experience. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Well, I was attempting to be realistic. Wasn't trying to be a Debbie Downer or anything.
Truth is, teacher positions ARE getting slashed all over the state.
I hate that people from other places think this is the land of milk and honey.
It's not.
If it was, I'd be the first to point to all the listings and opportunities and tell'em to come on down.

It IS important to give the most accurate info possible to those seeking to relocate. And it's also true teachers are being laid off all over the state, which is why I said the odds aren't in her favor. But maybe with any luck she'll have some skill set a particular school district needs?

Seems any one who doesn't say "Come on down this instant! And bring your 30 closest friends--who cares if any of you can find jobs?!?!?!?" is labeled a Debbie Downer by some here.
Actually, it would help if the OP would go into more detail about what kind of teaching job he/she is looking for. What grade level, what subject, how many years of experience, etc. Those will all be factors.
Out of about 10 people of my friends who graduated with teaching degrees and licenses in the past few years, only one has a teaching job in WNC. And two others were able to get jobs in charolotte because they took systems that are inner city.
It would be stupid to tell the OP: OH YES THERE ARE PLENTY OF TEACHING JOBS!!!! When its in fact the opposite.
