Asheville summers, winters, fall and spring are all awesome! www.romanticasheville.com/events (http://www.romanticasheville.com/events - broken link) take a peek. The site is having trouble I see, try it later. Here is another: http://www.exploreasheville.com/what-to-do/index.aspx
Its all relative. Coming from Florida, of course its going to be cooler. Compared to the north and northwest, its going to be hot. and humid. The most humid county in the state is just south of Asheville.
Summers tend to be in the high 80's with occasional 90's and humid because much of the area is a temperate rain forest.
Transylvania County could be considered humid, the Brevard area is a rainforest .... but there are plenty of humid areas over near the coast that are hellish. The east coast of NC is humid, more humid, and "humid-est".
Transylvania is the rainiest in the state, coupled with heat= on par with the most humid in the summer or at least equal to that of the coast.
According to NOAA: In southwestern North Carolina, where moist southerly winds are forced upward in passing over the mountain barrier, the annual average is more than 90 inches. This region is the rainiest in the eastern United States. The average relative humidity does not vary greatly from season to season but is generally the highest in winter and lowest in spring. The lowest relative humidities are found over the southern Piedmont, where the year around average is about 65 percent. The highest are along the immediate coast, averaging around 75 percent. The least amount of actual moisture is found in the higher mountains. The lower temperatures, however, result in relative humidities that are about the same as elsewhere in the State.
Many folks would have assumed that Henderson County is the most humid in the state, that is what my point was. It rains almost every day or every other day over near Brevard. Not that far in miles, maybe 20 mile, but it is a huge difference from Hendersonville.
Even with the humidity over near the beach, I think I could handle it quite nicely just to hear and see the ocean !
