I am looking to find a very reasonable rent 500-600 for a 2bedroom 2 bathroom place. I am willing to live outside of the city to have the rent be affordable. I have a year of savings, and I plan to try and get a job at a grocer, restaurant, or coffee house soon after arriving. I hope to live somewhere that allows my daughter and I to be close to nature without being totally out in the sticks. Any advice re employment, high schools, and safeness of the overall area would be helpful. We are from Minnesota. Thanks!

$800 a month plus some utilities will be more like it anywhere in the Asheville area. The job situation here is not good at all, this is a mainly retirement area. Here are some suggestions, however, for rentals in safe areas in South Asheville.
Turtle Creek Apts., Asheville (on Rt. 25)
Kensington Place (maybe), in South Asheville/Arden
Woods Edge Apts., South Asheville/Arden
SouthBridge Apts. in Arden
Brittany Place Apts. in Hendersonville
Dellwood Apts., in Hendersonville (excellent schools in Hendersonville)
