there are a couple of nice camp grounds. since we are traveling with three kids, things like a pool, some fishing etc would be great.
KOA and yogi bear both sound good. any input on those or other possibilities in the cherokee area ?
thanks

Not sure if you've been to Cherokee yet Queen; but my suggestion with kids would be to stop there for a day, visit the Museum, and see the "Unto These Hills" performance. And move on.

Have you taken the kids to the Nantahala Outdoor Center? They have a website. Anywhere around that area would be my preference, having traveled and camped in many areas. Bryson City, Robbinsville, Murphy, Franklin, spots outside of Waynesville etc. Also check out Fontana Dam if you have time. Anytime before end of October.

KOA is usually pretty good. Most larger ones have activities. Think you have to be a member.

thanks for your replies. we have been to cherokee and the indian village so far. we also went rafting somewhere along the road, which was great.

I booked a camp site at Yogi bear jellystone today. they just had a cancellation and we got a nice spot right on the river
I read about a trail to a lovely waterfall right off the campground, also tubing and fishing right there and I think we will be fine. as far as I read both offer pretty similar things and are close together. the ratings on tripadvisor let me go with Yogi.

thanks !

PS you don't have to be a KOA member, it's optional

Jellystone sounds like a better choice and hope you like it.

I stayed at the KOA and would not go back.
