Hello everyone! I'm new here, and have found myself going through a pretty unexpected life change. Due to this, I'm looking to relocate, and I've always adored Asheville. I have a 60 pound yellow lab, and need a one-bedroom apartment. I really wanted to find something downtown, but couldn't find anything between $700-900 that accepted pets. So, I'm looking at either the Springs at 11 Asheville Circle, or the Seasons in Candler. Any opinions on either? I'm especially interested in how the location is, including the surrounding areas and the commute. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

ummmm the springs is a pretty new higher end complex.......its probably 15 outside of town but 20-25 realistically during commute because that area of patton ave sucks...... Honestly for 7-900 a month you could get alot more than an apt.......if you wanted.

Well I'm up for any suggestions if you have any! My only requirements are to be able to bring my dog, and to be able to get to downtown easily. Thanks! =)

Just saying you could rent a house in west asheville or some other sections for 750 a month and your dog could have a yard

I agree with this. When my Michigan home sells, I'm relocating to the area there somewhere myself, so I have been looking on Craigslist for several weeks now just checking out what is available and prices. I've seen several houses that are pet friendly in and around Asheville. Also look at the newspapers on-line. You could stay in your budget and get a house instead of an apartment. That's what I plan to do.

I could be wrong, but the odds of finding an apartment accepting 60-lb dogs would seem pretty slim. Some have size limits, I think around 25-lbs.

A house is probably going to be a better bet.

try alpha rentals - they have a list of pet friendly rentals - and you can find a house for about 850

Thanks for the suggestions, you guys are great! I will check out some listings for houses to see what is out there, just to keep my options open! I have to say that I've been pleasantly surprised with the pet friendliness of the apartments in Asheville compared to other places I've lived. It's been no problem finding apartments that accept larger dogs, and some of them even have dog parks on the property or nearby!

I'll tell you where I lived when I was younger and single female. I found a victorian house in Historic Montford Park that was divided into three apartments, which I rented the one-bedroom for reasonable cost (I was poor), I had a cat and plans to get a dog. I could bike to downtown where I worked, walked everywhere in Montford's active neighborhood, made lots of friends. And it's not far from UNCA, in more recent years we would sometimes take our husky over there (on leash by law here) to walk with us all over their extensive grounds. When you look in the newspaper or whatever, and you see "Montford," then check into it for sure and grab it quick if it's nice enough and right price. Just stay away from the first couple blocks near the freeway.
