Can anyone share what it is like to live in Blowing Rock, especially what the winters are like! I know it snows quite a bit there, but is there snow on the ground from the first snowfall in November until May? I know the village is a picturesque place and the summer and fall is wonderful as far as the climate goes, but I'm particularly interested in the winters and hearing what others have to say. Do you need a 4-wheel drive to get around and do you have to shovel out every morning?

Thanks,
Carolyn

Red face Blowing Rock Winter

Hi Carolyn,

As spoken by a beach girl, the winters here really aren't that bad. I'm coming out of my third winter here and I can safely say I've pretty much adjusted. The winter is about 6 months or so, but you still have warm days mixed in through November and again from March to May. The hardcore winter is from Late December through Late March I'd say. As for snow, not so much any more. It definitely doesn't have as strong a presence as it used to. If we do get a decent snow (3-6 inches) it usually doesn't hang around for more than a week.
