Any golfers have feedback on this course....tips, condition, etc? I'll be playing there for the first time in 2 weeks. Thanks!

TheBoss & I play it a couple three times per year. Played it 2 weeks ago: the rainy summer helped some of the bare spots grow in, the greens are good, though there were a few holes of cart path only in addition to the usual par 3s.

Imo, avoid the urge to try and overpower it, esp on the severe downhill/elevation drop holes. Easy to run through the laterals on some of the doglegs by over clubbing.

Some of the initially high rough has been trimmed down and it's a bit fairer for non-fairway shots now...

It is worth chasing it there for the dramatic elevation drops, and some fun holes, imo. Not a great track, but a good track and getting better each year as it grows in.

Other good tracks in western NC, imo: Maggie Valley, (though the greens have a fungus), Waynesville CC where it is hard to lose a ball other than in occasional water, and my home track, Laurel Ridge CC in Waynesville. Some good tracks in Toxaway & Cashiers area too.
My 50Cts from a 14 Index...
GL, mD

PS...most GPS/NAVs will guide you 'close', but not to the course, and you may end up driving around 2 lanes in the woods, lol! If you are comp'd and coming down from the casino, ask for directions, though that route is easier. If coming from another departure point, check GOOG Maps, and call the track for better direction info, and the entrance and sign are not well marked, imo.

Hey, just wanted to follow up and let you know my thought on Sequoya Natty. So fortunately for me, I was having a good golf day, and on top of that me and my bud got paired up with two nice guys who knew the course extremely well. If you golf there without the benefit of local knowledge, you are in for a rough day. It took me a few times listening to their advice before I finally trusted them 100% because visually I couldn't believe what they were telling me, but they were right every time. Visually it's a course well worth playing....a true mountain course with a lot of severe elevation changes. The conditions were ok, not great, not bad, very playable. The fairways were spotty everywhere, but for some reason I never really had a bad lie. The greens were in 'good' shape with the exception of the #2 par3 was pretty rough and cost me a par because my ball bounced in 3 different directions. I'm big on putting, and overall, other than sand on the greens, they were nice. Guys in the pro shop were real nice as well. I ended up shooting 86 after a 9 4 9 4 start (ugh) but be warned......if you don't find the fairway, you will be in a lot of trouble. Lastly, a couple of people mentioned not to be tempted to go for it on some holes that seem like you can do just that.....but if I knew the course well and was hitting well that day, I actually would go for it on several different holes.
anyways, nice course, I recommend playing it at least once, some really nice views to be seen. Thanks!
