There is an older thread from 2011 on this topic and many posters recommended Verizon at that time for fewest dropped calls in mountainous terrain. I wonder if that is still the case. Does anyone have T Mobile or ATT with acceptable service, or is Verizon the best game in town for a hilly area.
I posted this quite awhile ago....I am wondering if it is still the same for the Asheville to Boone areas?? And internet provider for those areas..........?? :0)
Depends on where one is...
If Charter has cable to/near your house, it's the ticket. I recall reading that Frontier, et al, get some good reviews, if they are available in one's area.
If not, there are some 'local' wireless providers, some very thin DSL service, and below that, the cell phone 'air cards'.
Outside of cable areas, it is a real chase, in my experience. Hit the Search This Forum tab for some more threads on topic, but western NC, esp outside of cable reach, is not Comcast, et al, imo.

Thanks for the helpful info. I checked the US Cellular website and didn't see which provider's towers they use. They don't mention it, at least after a cursory look.
