The Subaru Forester got a great crash test rating. The Honda CRV has a great dependability rating but I don't like the look of the 2013. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is sharp. I'm definately going with a all wheel drive SUV. I can't wait for the next car show to see the new models.

They don't seem all that reliable as per consumer reports, but the concept seems neat, a 4x4 car, go in snow and good on gas, I just wish they were more reliable long term and I'd consider getting one. Anyway, not bashing Subies, just curious.

I don't care what make it is, a lot of those reliability reports can be misleading. I've owned 2 Subarus for a total of 10 years and about 145k(my current one is a WRX). I've replaced an 02 on each one, 1 wheel bearing, and an upper radiator hose. That's it. I haven't been easy on them either. Many WOT on a cold engine in the middle of the night running fire calls. Neither one has ever leaked a drop of oil or smoke. That said, I do maintain them pretty religiously. There's a reason why Subaru has one of the most loyal fan bases. As long as you know to keep in mind of HG issues on some late 90s model, most are extremely reliable.
