Wondering if any of you have shopped around for fencing. I need to enclose about 5 acres of pasture with 5 foot wire fence and a mix of 4 and 8 foot wire-filled galvanized gates. Need a mix of wooden and metal posts and a bit of electric across the top. I'm in Mountain Home, but willing to drive.
The big box stores are telling me 3-5 weeks and many of the single location farm suppliers have no web presence.
Before moving to Asheville, I had a 20 acre bottom farm in SWVA that I fenced with materials from Southern States Cooperative in Abingdon. They always had a wide range of wire and posts, from treated to steel. Google "Southern States Store locator". Then there's also Tractor Supply, which was not as farm centered as Southern States, but OK if they were closer. Southern States in VA was where all the real rural people went. If they don't have a web presence that's a good thing, too busy to keep up with one, and no tech overhead. Find the closest SS store and go for a ride.
Thanks IHN. There is an SS two miles from me but it is very horse and cow oriented. Everything I need is a special order. I'm looking for places like this Home that you have to drive by to even know that they exist.
You might look in the I WANNA newspaper usually a lot of farm related items for sale. It may be online too.
