My boyfriend and I talked about eloping, but we also want our families to be there to at least celebrate in some way. We just want something very small and private without any frills, perhaps a chapel in the mountains with an accompanying lodge or something with nice views so we can get together for the weekend and have a dinner/reception.

Any tips/ideas are appreciate it since I'm completely at loss where to even start looking.

The Asheville Chamber of Commerce's website is a handy place to start. They have an entire section of wedding information:

And there's Romantic Asheville:

Symmes Chapel - at the NC/SC border - amazing, incredible views - elevation 3,200 feet
downsides: somewhat remote and a reception would most likely need to be at another venue (unless one pays for extra hours)

Just curious - are you set on it being a chapel? I recently read about a local farm that is being restored and doing small events. I could try and find it if that has some appeal and I'm sure there are other farms doing the same thing. Also check Hendersonville's chamber of commerce for chapels and don't forget venues within the state and nat'l parks - may not specifically be chapels but will be beautiful.

Best wishes to you and your boyfriend.

If you Google "wedding chapel western North Carolina" you'll get all sorts of results. One good site seems to be Inexpensive Country Blue Ridge Weddings Venues In Mountains
