Just a suggestion but I would first narrow down your location choices somewhat.

You are all over the map! I think you named every town in WCN except Beech Mountain Good luck.

Thanks Roadpony & everyone else for the great suggestions, as well as the map showing the different zoning statuses was quite helpful!

And narrowing down which states/cities fit our vision is a basic research requirement, no ''shady'' posting etc is going on. It's nice to see people comment with actual helpful info & not just focus on my past posts.

I think Todd might work for you. Don't see Blowing Rock happening. Maybe Swannanoa near Asheville?

If you are considering a "tiny home community" you're talking subdivision requirements which will have mandates for several issues you may not be considering. Zoning, of course, ordinances, various subdivision laws, roads, utilities, sewage disposal system(s) and on and on. You'd best consider speaking to a building inspector and local contractors. When you look for land, use a Realtor who is an expert in land and surveying etc. This project is not as simple as you envision.

You might want to research the Celo community in Yancey County.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celo_Community

The community is apparently full and not taking new residents, but the immediate surrounding area, off NC 80 between the Blue Ridge Parkway and US 19E/Burnsville, is very bucolic with mountain views and plenty of land for sale. Adjacency to Celo would give access to a small food cooperative (which is open to the broader community) and you'd be about 20 minutes to Burnsville.

Yancey is a somewhat conservative place, particularly around Burnsville, but there's lots of artists and creative folks in the periphery of the county. Good luck.

I believe Swannanoa is where Warren Wilson College is located. Very Eco-conscious school. You may run into some tiny house competition/community there.

Another intentional community in the WNC area, calling theirs an ecovillage, is Earthaven. I toured that lovely place last year with some friends.

Great suggestions everyone! I am planning on calling the County planner & visiting a few communities to gather ideas. I heard Earthaven was pretty amazing CarrieLeigh! :-)
