When I visited Asheville last spring, I recall that there was a computer store "CityMac authorized retailer in Biltmore Square," but not an actual Apple retail store, in Asheville. Has anyone on this forum used the Asheville CityMac store for their Apple devices? For repair, or for buying a new Apple product? What has been your experience?

I see that there are actual Apple retail stores in Charlotte and Greenville, and in my experience, the Apple retail stores basically offer "no charge" services for tech questions, reinstalling ios, resetting a password, software installs, and many of the software issues on phones and tablets. City Mac charges for all of the things I listed. I guess CityMac can charge whatever they want, since there isn't any Apple store to compete with in the immediate area.

I'd be interested in learning if Asheville residents have used CityMac, or do you drive to Greenville or Charlotte for service on your Apple devices or for purchasing new hardware?

Charlotte Street Computers is also a Mac vendor. They may charge for some of the services that you listed.

I've only owned my MacBook for a few weeks but my husband researched and said all things the Apple Store does under warranty city Mac/Charlotte street should be doing too. If not I'm going to be very annoyed....

I've used CityMac on several occasions and found that they are helpful, knowledgeable, and haven't charged me when the issue is something simple. And they are easier to visit than the Genius Bar! No appointment necessary.

That's good news!! The Genius Bar can be hard to get to! LOL The Apple store where I live here in SE MI is good, but always crowded. I try to visit at less busy times (Sunday mornings, weekday mornings, etc). The staff are very generous with their time and expertise and I've never been charged for any question or tech service (reinstalling ios, troubleshooting various software issues, etc).

I also like that the Apple store will replace items when they break, no questions asked. My ipad air had problems a few months after purchase, and after a few attempts to reinstall ios which didn't help, they gave me a new one at no charge. I doubt CityMac or any other authorized retailer would do that, but hopefully CityMac can help with some issues at no charge. Greenville isn't that far to drive for more serious issues and to visit an actual Apple store.

They also replace items purchased that don't work or that you just don't want (Bose speakers, headphones, keyboard, etc).
