At night....

Any ideas? Raccoon, maybe??

The feeder is handing close to the screen porch, so there is a way to drink freely...

Guess I'll need to pull it in at night.

Raccoon. I’ve watched them do it on mine. I brought them in at night.

Bats will also drink the nectar.

I am guessing you don't have bears in your area? We pull our feeders in at night until mid-May or early June. Otherwise, we'll have a bear helping himself and destroying anything in his way. I am sure it's probably a raccoon, but I would bring it in at night, just in case the raccoon tells the bear about the pot of honey he's found!

I do have bears but the way it is situated, it'd be hard for him to climb up the screen post...raccoon seems most likely, it was a full feeder and this am, bone dry...

maybe a bat or two as well...

Raccoon...
If we don't take ours down by dark, we have a route salesman 'Coon that will drain it, as it can't pull it off easily.

If it was a bear, they will swipe it off/down in a NY Minute.

Not sure that the usual few species of bats in 'western' NC can have much effect on feeder levels.

The Northern Flying Squirrels, of which we have dozens at night in another month, can occasionally be attracted to sugar water, but my bet is Rocky. Bring it in at night, back up at dawn...

Yes, raccoon, pretty sure.

Although I DO live in TRANSYLVANIA County, so bats could also be involved.....

Squirrels will drink from the feeders, but also happily destroy the plastic bird stands.
