We have a cottage in Maggie Valley and we have city water. The water bill in our community has doubled. Is this a reflection on the mill in Canton closing?

It's the whole community. We are on one meter. The water company has been out and they are coming out again. Everyone has been instructed to check for leaks and turn their main off when away. No sign of ground leakage. I will check with person in charge who they spoke to.
54% increase is crazy

Does the water bill include sewer? Sewer costs have skyrocketed over the last year or two, especially if the system is under EPA mandates for nutrient removal.

Water treatment has also increased in cost but not as much.

You can check for leaks but if the community's usage (since you're all on a gang meter) is within 10% or so of the historical use then that's "normal".
