Hi, can anyone recommend a nice little town that's within equal driving distance to both Cullowhee (WCU) and Asheville? Have ruled out Canton and Clyde. Thanks!

Well, that's easy - Waynesville. It gets a little touristy in the fall but it's a nice little place. I also think nearby Maggie Valley is very pretty

May I ask why Canton ans Clyde are ruled out? we were thinking of looking around canton area, is it a bad area?
Canton has great people, but honestly it is a very "dingy" town. It is definitely a mill town, and I do not mean that in a bad way, but the output of the paper mill takes a LOT of getting used to.
Yeah, but there are areas on the outskirts of Canton where you really cannot smell the paper mill. Lots of gorgeous countryside there. Try looking on route 276, very pretty rural area. course you'd have to rent a house or trailer. No apts there, i don't think.

Paper mill and....hope you don't have kids. The middle school still uses paddles. Yes paddles, as in on kids in front of others.
To answer the original question, waynesville is the only "city" there is. If by "city" you mean restaurants, stores, and grocery stores. There isn't really any industry there. Nice town though, gets kind of full of elder tourists from florida in summer and fall, but nice place.
