We are coming to Maggie Valley in Oct or 125 days, can you tell I'm excited
May question is we would like to drive to Mabry Mill in Virginia, if we drive on the interstate and not the Parkway would we be able to to this in one day or is it too far? We really want to go back there.

I'd say easily. Only 225 miles according to mapquest, and the vast majority of it Interstate (I-40 to I-77).

We want to drive to Mabry Mill and come back to Maggie Valley in the same day, still possible?

Possible yes, but that makes for a very long day, and not much time once you get there before you turn around and go back. Are you sure you can't stay and at least camp for the night? Camping is very inexpensive. Since you might not have all the equipment, why not stay at a campground camping cabin? I know of a place with little camping cabins that are very affordable.
