I am interested in moving to Asheville from Northern Virginia. I am a college student and trying to get into UNC Asheville. Will I have a problem getting an apartment? and what are some of the good apartment complexes so I dont end up in the wrong part of town? I have been to Asheville once and loved it and am thinking about coming back down for a weekend soon before I move. Obviously since I am a student I am on a limited budget but would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
Hey there, I'm a senior at UNCA (on track to graduate in December). As a freshman, the best thing for you to do would probably live on campus, at least that first year. I'm an Asheville native, so I just make the 20 minute drive from home every day.
The only bad part about being a freshman living on campus is that you'll have to forfeit use of your car.
But once you decided to get a place of your own, there are a lot of complexes near campus, just off of Merrimon Avenue and the such. I'd advice staying out of The Grove. Kind of a sketchy place, even though it's mostly filled with UNCA kids.
