But, you will be sharing the lot?? You are one of the folks I fear for. Sorry, you really need to have housing. And I thought you said you lived in Chicago?? Am I misunderstanding?

The problem is there literally are no apts, or housing available. This is a town of like 12,000. W/ an influx of several thousand, and more coming daily. There are no places. The was a moratorium on building man camps imposed for 6mths recently. Small towns didn't want them. Williston has ppl gouging renters, and believe me, they are not going to let someone sublease...They will get their money. But, more houses are being built. I heard there were 1000 man camp rooms, in Williston to be ready soon, w/ 4000 in Minot soon. On this forum, or the herald. They have thrown old people out of their low income housing, raising the rent from 700 to 2000 mth, w/ 2000 deposit. There is a newspaper article Tues?? Anyway, there was a shortage before the National stories got out, now it is a nightmare. But, I agree, if there was housing, I would get into it. In fact that news story is titled 6 figure income, but homeless. it is on here somewhere, msnbc story, google it.

This is meant as purely survival if your car stalls, until help arrives. Not to suggest that a coffee can/candle would keep you warm if you are trying to live in your vehicle. Just to aid for a short while in an emergency.

Im planning on going to North Dakota by the end of the year. Im not a nay sayer. All Im saying is no matter what you say or warn ( which I understand some people do it because they care and some others simply because they hate out of staters ) , theres still people that is gonna come to try find a job.

Me personally, Im a professional camper and I know how to survive in the outdoors. Im prepared and I know Im gonna be ok.

All I can say is if you really wanna come and endure really cold weather, INFORM yourself. Do your research and be safe. Dont let anybody try to stop you reach your goals.

Just be careful, Be safe, Be smart.

Jax, Peace.

Well, informing folks of the real life threatening conditions they will face if they have no or inadequate shelter in temps that can be historically more frigid than Siberia. If you wouldn't consider living in a vehicle in Siberia, why would you here in North Dakota. I realize ppl will come anyway. I can at least know I tried to warn, and suggest wait until spring. The conditions here are made worse by risking your life because of the weather. I do hope you are safe, and that your adventure will be worth the telling. Peace
