So, Ive been hearing mixed comments about the campers in the Walmart parking lot in Williston.
Ive heard people are still camping there and Ive heard there also cracking down on the RV's that are staying there.
What's the general consensus? Will the city still allow it or are they kicking everyone out?
Im thinking of bringing my 5th wheel out there and was wondering if I could use the walmart lot as temporary sleeping grounds for about a week or so, until I find a job and a more permanent place to park the camper.
Last week was fine... police drove by often just to check things out (didn't ever stop though)... just be cool... don't loiter around... be as inconspicuous (if there is such a thing there in the open) as you can be... and KEEP THE AREA CLEAN!...

And patronize the Chateau store...LOL
Good advice. A few years back, Wal-Mart started allowing travelers to stop in their parking lot, over night. That was the intention. Overnight. Maybe a second night. They wanted to be traveler friendly.
So pushing your luck there is probably not a good thing. They want to be open minded and allow as much as they can, but they are probably getting heat from the home office. I don't know if they actually go out and take down license plate numbers and keep close tabs on everybody. But the bottom line is that it is private property.
I would imagine, as long as people keep a low profile, keep the place cleaned up, and they'll let things slide. If things get out of hand, they'll shut it down in a heartbeat.
From Walmart right on 2nd ave... to 11th St. (M&H gas station)... take a right about 1 mile on the right hand side
ElkHunter - down in the south it is very, very commonplace for RV's to stay overnight/a couple of days at local walmarts... but again, be inconspicuous...
I actually think it is a part of the home office policy of Walmart, just like when they allowed their stores to be "looted" during Katrina. But yes its private property and abuse of it could cause a quick revocation.
