Hi,

I am relocating to Fond Du Lac this winter.
Have wife and young kid.

Can someone suggest which part of the city are better and which part of the city one should avoid?
I am thinking between west side (near the mall) and south-east side.

Thanks,
CD

Fond du Lac is generally a low crime place. The place not to live is Hamilton Street area. Otherwise, FdL is Ok. Just like any other place, don't get too close to Rr tracks or the trains might keep you awake. Good Luck! Both the areas you suggest should be good. I don't know if you r looking for apt or house. The southeast side might get an edge for my recommendation. Feel free to ask anything more specific.

I recently moved from Fond du Lac to Beaufort, SC. I lived on the West side and it was a very good place to reside. There are a lot of neighborhoods with available housing. The schools are good and it's relatively safe. The only place I wouldn't want to live in Fond du Lac is around Hamilton and Brooke Streets. (I had an art studio on Brooke St. in an old warehouse. It isn't really a great, safe place to live, in my opinion.) I also used to live on the East side of town (15th St. near the fairgrounds) and it's also a very nice, safe, neighborly place.
If I had my choice, though, I'd love to live somewhere on Division St. or in that vicinity. The art center, library, and hospital are close proximity. Sheboygan St. has some lovely homes, as do the surrounding streets.
Best of luck to you on your move. I hope you and your family will be very happy in Fondy!
