I was doing some searching for new information on this town and could not find much. I am considering a county position there. I'm fairly familiar with the area and lived further south in WI previously. Any concerns or downsides to be aware of?

I lived in Jackson County when I was a kid. The last time I was in BRF was about 20 years ago. I did a Google Street View of downtown and other than different businesses it hasn't changed a whole lot. Jackson County itself has only grown by about 4,000 people in the last 40 years, and BRF has only added about 500 residents since we left in the mid-80s.

All that to say is it's small, tight-knit, somewhat isolated, and not a very high-growth area. There's a Wal-Mart and all the basic necessities, but you'll have to drive to La Crosse or Eau Claire, or Marshfield for anything other than that.

Beautiful area, though. Need to get my kids up there to see it.

Thanks for the information, I think the area is underrated and does seem to offer quite a bit without being too isolated. It is doubtful that too many make the drive daily from Eau Claire, but BRF seems nice from what I've seen of it- haven't been there in a few years.
