We just had a friend over for dinner last night, and I asked her about her thermostat setting. I was shocked to hear she set it at 65. We kept our at 75 in winter in Texas. Right now, we're OK at 72 in frozen tundra country. Are sub 70 thermostat settings common here?

I'm at 60 right now, meaning it will come on at 59 and warm up to about 63 then stop. I also have oil heat which it gets hot in the house fast so you don't have to wait.

We keep ours at 66 or 67 all winter long. My bedroom doesn't have a thermostat, just radiant heat in the ceiling, and it's not uncommon for me to wake up and find that it's 62 in there, which I like just fine.

72? I hope you’re not running propane. Ours set at 67 during the day. 55 at bedtime. Down blanket and we’re fine. We just moved to Wyoming from Ca. and I’d like to eventually set it lower as we get adjusted.

We set ours at about 65. Starting in a few weeks we will fire up the wood burner. Then the house gets to a cozy 70. I have to crack the bedroom window at night as that is too warm for me.

Ours during the day is at 68-69; I work from home so unless we are gone for the day (then we lower it a bit) that’s where it stays. At night, 65.
We have used those same temp areas for decades, even when we lived in SC the few years. Seems those are the temps we are comfy at.

I sleep at 63 and program it to go up to 67 a 1/2 hour before my alarm. Then back down to 63 about 6 pm.
I do use my fireplace quite a bit though on weekends.

Heat comes on at 68, air comes on at 72. Wife runs cold and I run hot. Always a challenge to find balance. Unless really hot or really cold the house tends to hold on its own at about 75 in the summer and 65 in the winter, unless it’s super stinking cold. We use the thermostat geofence so when we’re out the heat is 58 and air is 78. If we travel we bump up the air to 85 and drop the heat to 55 and set the geofence distance to 60 miles. At 60 miles, it reverts to the normal temp range and it’s enough for it to be comfortable when we walk in the door.

Heat is set at 69 during the day and 67 at night. I’d like it warmer personally. Summer it’s set at 75. That’s my wife’s doing though. I’d keep it at 77-79 ideally in summer. I run cold and my wife runs hot. I’m wearing a long sleeve in the house to stay warm at 75 in the summer, and she’s sweating.

I think I remember reading in Wisconsin the average ac and thermostat setting is 72 year around.
