Wi men accused of running down deer w/snowmobiles

If I may add, now that i've been out of WI for some months, i see some of the differences in other states on how they punish for certain crimes. Maybe some of the laws are more relaxed in WI, maybe it just appears that way to me. Case in point; cause a death in the Carolinas by use of a vehicle, it's murder and not manslaugher. Whether racing or dui. Even if you are not the car that was in the actual accident; if you were "the other car" in that race, you also will be tried for murder. At first that seemed extreme compared to what I've seen back home, but after looking at it further, that extreme law may do more to make others think twice and hopefully prevent another death later....
And there have been a couple situations here where someone was attacked and defended themselves with their own gun. The original perp was killed, and nothing brought against the defendant if they had a permit for that gun.
So in no way do I want to turn this into what laws should and should not be in place; just thinking if laws aren't stricter, then what is going to stop others from doing the exact same thing again to animals.... or.....
