I am looking to move somewhere closer to a big city but I don't want to be on top of it. I have friends in the Richfield area and I also don't need to be right next to them. I am a single older mother. I was thinking of buying a condo in the Hartford or Slinger area. Anybody have any idea? If not there how about Germantown?

This to me is a tough one because all three are great communities. Germantown is more cookie cutter suburb and Slinger is a little more rural but still very nice and they have built some newer condos there as well. Hartford is a nice small city with a small town feel while still being close to Milwaukee. All three cities offer enough options for shopping and dining I would drive around each town and do more housing research online to see what fits you better. I would chose Germantown myself but that's because I would want to be closer to Milwaukee County.

I like the downtown in Hartford, they have a place called the Mineshaft, awesome food and a huge park within walking distance of downtown. Honestly if I had to live in that area of Wisconsin I'd go with Hartford over Slinger.

I think you'll get more house/condo for your money in either Hartford or Slinger and Germantown I agree is somewhat cookie cutter with the homes. I'm not sure how taxes compare but do know Germantown's are pretty high for what you get.

Did you ever find anything? I know there are some cheap new condos in Slinger, a developer was foreclosed on. However the taxes are high in my opinion.

I recently had to relocate from the western USA back to Wisconsin and also had a similar question and then my Son suggested a Mobil Home as they are affordable, easy to re-sell once I find a permanent home to purchase and the mobil home parks in Hartford/Slinger have a strict list of qualifications for new tennants so they have good neighbors!
