If you receive a letter from your company and your contribution is reduced in your paycheck indicating you are an HCE, what should your next step be? Can you tell your company to make the distribution back to your 401K plan as a non-taxed catch-up contribution or at least back to your 401K plan?
You can reduce your contribution so your pretax contribution is less that $16500 ($22K over 50).
You can contribute after tax to the 401(k) but realize the book keeping hassles.
