Is anyone else like me? When people bring in a covered dish, they try to get everyone to try it. A office associate brought in some sort of "hamburger helper with cheese on top meat balls".
It did not smell good.
She just keep promoting her "wonderful dish". I don't think anyone moved except for "Vince",he eats anything.
People mean well but, please don't shove it down my throat(NO PUN INTENDED), I don't do covered dishes.
I totally do unless I know something gross about their hygiene...like people who let their twelve cats have free reign over the kitchen counter tops or they don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom. Otherwise, I'm happy to try them at a company pot luck kind of thing. I wouldn't like anyone to bring me a plate or expect me to have some but being able to help myself if I so choose is all good

Back in August I had a young lady make me a plate that I did not ask for.........mind you, I kindly told her I did not want it. I think she got mad.

Yeah - now that, to me, is total bull - especially at the office. She's the one who was out of line, IMO. Making something available is one thing but forcing the issue is another. Do you have an issue eating other people's food when you don't know them well...or is it just the awkward presentation/power play that you object to?
What gets me is how people have a hard time eating other peoples food, but they go out to eat at a restaurant or fast food place without second thoughts.

But you don't know if they have 12 cats unless you have been to their home. Same thing with the bathroom, unless you have seen them.
I don't care for potlucks either for that reason.
I always remember the Seinfeld episode with Poppy.
I am with all of the above. I am not a person who likes to eat food at potluck parties. However, if the boss made it, I will not only eat it, I will lick the plate, and request more.

The health inspector does not look at people's kitchens and give them a grade they have to post on the wall of the living room.
