My wife works for a large non-profit which recently changed employee status to non-exempt for overtime. Logged time is well documented. They're been asked to sign a document accepting 50% of regular salary for the overtime rather than 1.5 times, the normal rate at their salary level.
Everyone's concerned for their jobs and some have not signed yet, thinking this is not right.

That is a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and should be reported, though this could be their way of avoiding layoffs, so
the result could be worse.
