I worked for stoner, made good money, and he always got me and my co-workers drunk after work. It was a bartending job and he had a very successful business, was a devout Jew, and also smoked pot almost everyday.
Yeah I know plenty of pot smokers in Colorado and CA that lead functional lives, not everyone is Jeff Spicoli, but that dude was pretty cool gotta admit.
In fact my friend's Dad is well respected lawyer and he grows his own and doesn't sit around watching tv and eating ho ho's all day.
Depends on if they have their ish together or not.
My last boss was a stoner but only on a sporadic basis. It didn't affect his work or the ability to make decisions or anything else. Considering I was the one doing payroll, there was also no issue of worrying about getting paid on time.
Now someone in a lot of debt is a bigger issue. I've worked for quite a few people who liked to treat the company funds like their own personal piggy bank and stiff the vendors. I then had to handle the calls screaming for money. Also worked for one company that was quickly going under to the point I saw that the paychecks would start bouncing at any given time, so I got out.
I would be more concerned about the debt issue than being a stoner, but if I had a preference it would be to work for neither. Then again I've seen some crazy ass people who were perfectly sober, too.
Most of business or business owners are in massive debt. If they aren't, they can slip into debt very easily. Yet most of us work for them without any problem.
That's true.
The task is finding someone who isn't in some type of debt.
LOL Construction industry is full of types like this... and Alcoholics etc....
That's why I could never work in a blue collar occupation. You're more likely to attract the scummiest of the scum on this earth in blue collar occupation because only what you can do with your hands is valued (social etiquette or even intelligence be damned).
I've heard about horrible things happening on those assembly lines.

Give me by cubicle/desk job any day.
that's quite a generalization. Where do you get your facts?

^^^I think you're just as likely do deal with "scum" in an office or white-collar profession. It really doesn't take an intellectual or someone with average or above intelligence to get a degree.
As someone who has worked blue collar jobs to get myself through college, I identify more with the "working class" and have worked with ignorant people and gossipers in both offices and bars.
Is he good at his job? If so, I wouldn't care in the least.
