Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000105 EndHTML:0000002886 StartFragment:0000001438 EndFragment:0000002850 I found out about current job through this owner of a printing company. I originally contacted her to find out she was hiring or looking for designers. At the time no she wasn't. But a couple of weeks later she emailed me about this sign shop owner whom she deals from time to time that he was looking for a Graphic Design/Production Associate.
During my unemployment I learned that you have to leave out of the circle of people you know sometimes. I was letting former customers from my last job know that I was looking for work. Two years of networking and keeping in touch, was working out.
The print shop owner I discovered her through Linkedin; we chit chatted for a bit by phone; she remembered that was looking for work.
So it all depends! Who you know, what you know and if you work truly hard of getting yourself out there. Like the previous posts someone mentioned about hitting the pavement and passing out resumes.
