Thanks to every one for your advise.
I do say hi to every one at office but I don't talk much at work. I always keep my life to myself. I don't like to share what is happening to me with my co-worker.
I do have B.Sc. and about 15 credits away from graduating from MBA. but I lost interest after my kids born. I am so busy at home and work, I don't have time to do any H.W or any kind research.
I am happy with what I do, but in terms of the money, I am sure my friends are making lot more money then I am. I am not greedy, more power to my friends. Maybe one day, I can drive BMW or Lexus like them.
Be careful what you wish for. The extra money is sometimes not worth the level of stress, overtime, and the ensuing drama of dealing with babysitting grown ups.
Babysitting grown ups is the truth. That's my fear.
My friend fired somebody for surfing the web all day and skipping out on work for several hours. He asked them what was wrong. The told the manager that he was trying to get fired, so that he could collect unemployment. He didn't feel that the job was a right fit for him. He didn't want to quit, because the unemployment office won't pay him. He couldn't find anything better right now. I wonder why.
What's funny is I was looking around the "Retirement" forum on CD and there is a thread that asks if people miss their old jobs.
90%+ of the responses are a very strong NO!!! It's kind of sad that most people hate their jobs so much and don't miss working at all when they retire. I guess the thing to do is to only pursue fields that pay a lot, cut expenses to the minimum, and focus on investing the majority of your paychecks so that you can retire as early as possible.
I have be in the IT side for close to 20 years. I neverr got promoted to manager or any kind of higher level. But in the review every year, they all say I am doing great job. All my college friends, some of them are managers now, one of them is supervisor and other one is IT director. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
what do I need to do to move up in the world?
In the corporate world, there is only one answer: To move up, you must kiss a LOT of ass.
4. Do loads of extra work. Your job should become your life.
5. Steal co-workers ideas, and pass them off as your own
Your answer is right here.
